The AT&T BlackBerry Torch cell phone looks very nice to me, the slide-out is reportedly solid, the touchscreen good and the new OS a major upgrade. It’s definitely a good start for Blackberry. It looks like OS 6 will be very good. The Torch could of been good with a faster processor and higher resolution screen. I was really hoping that RIM was going to unveil something great.

The AT&T BlackBerry Torch cell phone has a 3.2 inch, 480 x 360 pixels touchscreen display, Full QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera with flash, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5 mm headset jack, Full HTML tabbed browser , added new icons and a Webkit browser, 512MB RAM, 512 MB flash, 4GB flash onboard memory, 4GB memory card included. 624MHz CPU, it’s actually almost a 1G chip clocked down to achieve incredible battery. It’s basically meeting the minimum requirements expected for a smartphone. Looks nice though. Kinda looks like a knockoff of the Palm Pre.

I know most people on here expect every phone to have a ghz of more processing power. But if an OS is super optimized a device with a slower processor can match the faster rated devices.

This is a nice looking device. I think it will serve me well at work. Don’t forget Copy & Paste. And Battery Life. And message notification LED. And fully functional Facebook with push notifications. And not getting notified multiple times for the same email. I love my Android, but it’s far from perfect and lacks in areas Blackberry excels at. The AT&T BlackBerry Torch will be available for AT&T customers on August 12 in AT&T company owned retail stores, online at att.com, and at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and RadioShack stores. The Torch 9800 will be available for $199.99 with 2-year service agreement. No other USA carriers? I know AT&T has a 6 month exclusive, so I hope it goes by fast!
