AT&T TerreStar Genus – New AT&T Cell Phones
The AT&T TerreStar Genus is a cellular / satellite smartphone. This is not targeted for the regular users. The cost of using the satellite service will be much larger than any normal plan. The TerreStar Genus dual-mode cellular/satellite smartphone gives users the option to access theTerreStar satellite network when AT&T’s cellular wireless network is unavailable. Qualified AT&T wireless users with a line of sight to the satellite will be able to access expanded voice and data coverage in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands and in territorial waters.

The AT&T TerreStar Genus is a brand new satellite phone, the first of several new companies that will be bringing satellite coverage to the US. New AT&T Phones – TerreStar Genus features include a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.6-inch touch screen, 3.0-megapixel auto-focus camera, high-speed 3G Internet, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity and running Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. The Genus supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. May be because your tiny phone needs to ‘send’ a signal too. For Satelite TV, all your gigantic antenna does is receiving signal from a satelite, so it may be able to catch very small signals, but when you need to send a signal to a satelite using a battery powered tiny antenna that also placed right next to your brain, it may not be practical to send signal strong enough.
