This is welcome news, even if a low end offering. There definitely isn’t the strongest demand, but there is a demand…I love the keyboard on my Arrive, and I love having the full screen visible while typing. I’ve just about given up hope that my next phone will also have a keyboard, but this rumour gives me a littie bit of hope…
Windows Phone 8 will bring new features that require new hardware. Things like NFC, and maybe the kinect integration as is being rumored lately. WP8 will also most likely support dual cores, and high-res displays, though those haven’t been officially confirmed.

The new Acer CloudMobile smartphone looks like its using something resembling stock ICS, which is always good to see. At this stage we need all the close to stock phones we can get, to create one big system of timely updates. That’s not the final product. It’ll be released in the 3rd quarter. Acer made some prototypes before Google released ICS. Capacitive buttons will be removed, Acer logo will be placed there instead of it being at the top. That’s what the latest renders of the phone looks like.

I’m liking the design and fresh look. That is a sexy-looking phone! I’m guessing it’ll have stock ICS with no crappy UI changes. If the rest of the specs are on par or better than the recent Android heavyweights (Galaxy Nexus, RAZR, Rezound), this’ll be a real contender! …at least until Galaxy S3 comes out. Hopefully this device will see a release in the states. If not might have to look into importing it after learning more about it.

The Acer CloudMobile will have a 4.3-inch HD display, a high-def resolution almost certainly 720p, Dolby sound, 10mm thick.

The new Acer Allegro looks like optimus 7, it’s really nice on WP7 that no matter what you are going to get a great OS, because it allows the user to choose a hardware variant that is right for them. Without worrying about Sense or Blur, etc. WP7 is still in the startup phase. Even with 7.5 released, I don’t think (note: think) WP7 will be quite ready to battle it off with the big guys until 3-4th quarter of 2012.

The Acer Allegro Windows phone features include a 3.6-inch WVGA (800 x 480) display, 1GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU, 8GB internal storage, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1,300mAh battery.

The new Acer W4 Windows Phone 7 Mango is mid-range handset, hopefully for pre-paid carriers. We need a flagship WP7 phone – something with a big screen, 4G connectivity for when Mango is released, support for a large capacity micro sd storage card, a larger battery…The same holds true even with the Mango multitasking update. Windows Phone is much faster and much more optimized than Android on equivalent hardware. Considering the Optimus 7 is the best Windows Phone, that’s not saying much.

The Acer W4 cell phone key features:
- 3.6-inch WVGA Capacitive screen, 480×800 resolution
- 1GHz processor, Qualcomm MSM8255
- 5 MP auto focus camera
- HSPA 850/190 OR 900/2100
- Wifi, Bluetooth 2.1, DLNA Support
- up to 8GB of built-in Storage
